True story: Once upon a time, I only wore matching suits like today's post. I was so afraid that if I didn't wear them at the same time, they would fade differently and then my suit would be mismatched. Today, my fear didn't come back. I was just plain old lazy. So to make the my outfit a little more fun, I added some pink accents.
So I want to let you in a little secret on buying suits from some of my favorite stores like Ann Taylor, White House Black Market and The Limited. They tend to make suits with the same material season after season. So if you do not have the money to invest in a suit, you can wait and add to it year after year. Typically each year, they will make it in a new style. This is also a great way to take a chance and wait till it goes on super clearance to add to your suit.
If you wear suits to work, do you tend to wear them together or are you pretty good at mixing and matching your various suits?
If you are still reading, you must be wondering - what's up with the New Old Purse title. Why here's another true story....
True Story: This purse was bought over 8 or 9 years ago. And today is the 1st time I am using it. When I bought the purse, I thought it was the perfect combination of colors and I could wear it with everything. Then when I got it home, I realized a white purse is not ideal for a messy person like me and wanted to return the purse. Somehow I forgot to return it and I guess I've let this purse age like a fine wine. Thank goodness even at my younger days, I was wise enough to buy a not so trendy purse.
That's all the stories I have for you today. I would love to hear some of your true fashion stories.

DeleteLuckily, I don't need to wear a suit to work, my office is very casual. Plus, I can't even buy a suit .. I have to buy separates as my top is smaller than my bottom - by one whole size ..hence the whole pear shaped gal blog idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink accents .. really pretty!!

Some days, I wished I had a more casual work place so I can be a little more creative with my outfits. I like to buy my suits at the places listed above because they sell the pieces separately so that if you are different size you can make sure it fits. Plus this helps me get out of wearing a suit rut.
DeleteYou look so pretty and classy in this outfit. Love those shoes! Luckily I don't have to wear a suit to work. :)

Always Maylee
Thanks Yi-chia - I try not to wear a suit as much as I can but I do work in a conservative place so I do need to keep my clothing choices pretty safe.
DeleteI love the suit, but so happy I don't have to wear one!!! Very classy, lady! Thanks so much for linking up!!!!!

DeleteAlice....you showed this suit who's boss:)! Love how you add some sass and made it trendy with the polka dot blouse, pink belt, and cap-toe pumps:)!
ReplyDeleteYou are too sweet Rita! Hope you are having a great day!
DeleteAlice, you make me smile with your anecdotes, you are such a sweetheart, that I would love to give a hug right now :-)
ReplyDeleteI am not a person who like matchy match suits and tend to mix. Using the blazer with a nicer jeans, or taking the pants and mix it with a nice blouse. Together it kinda looks dusty on me not necessarily on others plus with my wide hips its difficult anyways to find a fitting one brrrr. Love the way you incoporated modern items in there with the polka dot blouse and the pink belt.
So I see some really hot pink metal toe cap heels sticking out there. Those babies shouldnt be hidden, I love them and wanna see them in their full appearance hehehe ;-)
I think you should participate in my an old flame never dies series with your bag story :-)
Hugs for you on this Valentine's day :-)

Thanks Rebecca - you have a great day too!
DeleteLove your blouse! and white leather is totally easy to wear, I used to have one that was my go-to everyday bag, and it did start to turn grey/blue (from rubbing on my jeans) after awhile but it was usually pretty easy to wipe clean! A white canvas bag though? No way.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty good to know Kimmie :). I hate when that happens and the leather just looks so old. I guess I am just too lazy to clean it :)
DeleteI have two handbags and I would say that they're the least utilized. Living in the city, doesn't help because I am afraid it'll get dirty. I am glad you took this bag out for a spin. The last time I wore a suit was for a job interview in late aug.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine - I would be deathly afraid to put my purse on the ground or it just rubs people in the subway. I am really horrible at taking care of my purses...hence no beautiful high end stuff for me.
DeleteI didn't know stores used the same material over and over again. That's so interesting. LOVE your purse! Glad you're using it :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering my giveaway! Good luck!

I know that the stores that I mention do. If you do buy from one of these stores, just make sure it's a fabric they use regularly.
DeleteThat's funny about your suits because I don't mind wearing the pieces separately, I just never take one piece to the cleaners without the matching item for any of my suits or my husband's! And I agree with the terror of getting light leather dirty. That happened to me with a pricey bag I bought in light pink and a tan bag I have. I need some scotchguard!
ReplyDeleteAna - that's too funny about sending your suits to the cleaners together! I never thought about doing that :)
