One of the fun things I enjoy about blogging is reading other bloggers. Each blogger has their own unique niche in the fashion (budget, high end style, promote their shop, etc.). Before blogging, I had started taking outfit photos and pinning them to Pinterest (if you want to follow me: alilam1) primarily to challenge myself to use what's in my closet and wear a different outfit everyday. Next month, will mark my 1 year anniversary of taking pictures of my outfits and I still have not repeated an outfit. I am not trying to brag - it's a realization that I have too much clothes since I still have a ton I have not worn (still with tags). In 2013, I have curbed my shopping habit to buying things that are truly gaps in my closet and so far, I am doing pretty good.
So why did I start this blog, I honestly have no idea. I think it's because I was already taking the pictures and reading other blogs, I wanted to be part of this community. I have found it rewarding reading all of your comments and forming an online friendship with people from everywhere. I am still not sure that I have a particular niche - I think my goal was to look hopefully stylish even for an older woman like me. I may not have the best photos or amazing and/or creative outfits but I am really enjoying this journey.
If you are a blogger, what made you decide to start blogging? I would love to hear why you started.
If you have read through all that - thank you! Another fun part of reading blogs is also challenging my wardrobe ways. This outfit is inspired by a couple different bloggers today. First, is Kate from a Journey in Style where she is challenging herself with wearing clothing that's been neglected far too long. Secondly, Ani from FleurAni is hosting a link up series called An Old Flame Never Dies where you find something from your closet that's not a recent purchase.
This skirt is probably over 6 years old. When I had my son, I had the hardest time losing my baby weight and I gave up all of my clothes since I thought I would never lose the weight. This skirt is one of the few items I kept. I just love how fun this skirt is when you walk - kind of swings and the ruffle pleats are so fun. As I started to lose the weight, I went on a shopping binge and bought a lot of clothes and this skirt was neglected. I know it's been at least a year that I've worn it.

MESVOYAGES A PARIS STYLE BLOG
How awesome that you were able to attend Paris Fashion week - I am sure that's a great fashion inspiration!
DeleteYou and I have similar stories as to how we starting blogging, but I was annoying my friends on Facebook with my daily posts so I joined the blogesphere. Blog Hopping from Two Thirty Five - have a fantastical weekend and don't forget to "Spring Ahead" an hour on Saturday night!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny Antionette - I post my daily outfits on fb and I am always wonder if I am annoying my friends that would careless about what I am wearing.
DeleteOh Alice, wonderful ensemble. I love the dotted skirt! [how it flares] I just joined you here and will on blog-lovin and pinterest. My FB isn't ready yet. [they goofed it up]. hahahaha. Have a great day okay?
ReplyDeleteThanks Renae for following. I have no clue how to use all these mutli-media - I have a fb page but have no idea how to share it. :)
DeleteGreat outfit! As for me, I started blogging because I am trying to find a way into the fashion industry, ideally as a stylist. Using social media like Twitter and Pinterest took me so far, but I also needed to showcase my own personal style as well, and thus my blog was born. :)

That's so smart to showcase your own style to become a personal stylist Terry! Good luck!
DeleteDang, no repeated outfits? Go you!
ReplyDeleteAs for how I started blogging, I was following a ton of fashion blogs written by girls that I could really relate to, and I was leaving comments but it was hard to build a relationship with someone when it was so one-sided. It's been so much fun being part of the community!
and that skirt is really lovely. I know what you mean though, about it getting neglected when you bought new clothes. I have a lot of stuff from a certain period in my life when I was heavier and while it still sits in my closet, I dont mind myself reaching for them very often because they just don't fit right. I hope to be able to slim them down to my current size so they can start being worn again!
I totally agree with you Kimmie - it's no fun having a one sided conversation (although I think I have those with myself on a daily basis).
DeleteMy reasons for starting a blog sound a lot like yours. I love the idea of mixing and matching and also connecting with other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Katie for sharing your story :)
DeleteAlice, I am so glad you started your blog nearly a year ago. It's just so much fun to connect with people of a great fashion style like you and get inspired.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for participating in my series dear, totally appreciate it and you made my day :-)
And you cant imagine how much I love your 50'vibe skirt, the polka dots and the swing material is so much fun and ladylike. We have so many great items that we forget about in your closet and isn't it fun to invent it new with items that are trendy. You did a wonderful job with this challenge. Thank you for beeing such a sweet blogger friend of mine Alice :-)
