This past Saturday, when I came home from working out my boys were having their breakfast and watching cartoons. A commercial for the circus came on and my son asked if we could go. We looked online and the circus was in town until Sunday.
Growing up, I have never attended a circus. We took my son to one when he was younger and I would categorize that performance as D level circus. We had a great time but it was just not highest quality. I was a bit hesitant about to going another circus and had pretty low expectations.
Let me tell you, the circus is not what it used to be. We attended the Ringling Brothers Circus and I was surprised how well run the show was. I thought there would be a lot of animal acts and silly clowns but there was so much more. What always amazes me are what the human body can do. There were some Chinese acrobats acts that were just amazing. My son was in awed of their skills to be able to do multiple flips then jump into a hoop that was 10 feet high. They had about 20 people on 1 bicycle. The list goes on. These performers work so hard - they put on 3 shows a day on Saturdays and Sundays. I wanted to pictures of the acrobats but was so afraid that the flash would distract them.
I had no idea what to wear to a circus show but I wore some comfy jeans with a light cardigan. Somehow, my son got really cold eating his snow cone and the cardigan ended up on him and I was freezing. Oh...the things we do for our kids.
Sorry the top is all messed up in these photos. We were running late and grabbed the camera to take them and I had no time to see the details.
