Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Nike Woman's 1/2 Marathon - San Francisco

Welcome to Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up!  Today, I am going all the way back to last weekend with my girls trip to San Francisco for the Nike Half Marathon Run.  I apologize in advance if there are a lot of pictures but I had so much fun that I wanted to share my weekend with you.

First with what I wore.  I always check the weather before I pack and San Francisco is known for cooler temps and fog.  So I packed jeans and light layers.  I had to work on Friday so I could not wear jeans and had to leave straight from the office to the airport.  As much as I thought I research the weather, I was wrong - it was too hot to feel like foggy & cold that I was craving.

This was also the first time I've ever packed a weekend with just a carryon.  This was a challenge for me, I do not know how to pack efficiently especially since I had to bring my running stuff.  So I decided to behave and only bring my running shoes, a pair of flip flops and whatever shoes I was wearing as footwear.  Knowing that I was going to be doing a lot of walking, I decide on the boots from Shoemint I got last year.  I walked for miles with them through the city and they were so comfy.  I also brought a big tote to carry a smaller handbag & my sweater and junk.  BTW, brining the tote to the market was such a great idea to carry my goodies and the City of San Francisco is very green and charges for bags so it was perfect way to save a few pennies and be green too.

Now on to my trip.  We really did not have much time to do much in about 48 hours.  We got in Friday afternoon and headed over to the Nike expo and then have a fabulous dinner.

Saturday, we started the day visiting the Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building.  Every time I visit San Francisco, I always try to go to the market if I am there on Saturdays.  It's nothing like the farmer's markets where I live.  They have a ton of vendors that sell such exotic fruits and vegetables that I've never seen before.  I wished I could've bought some of it home with me.

There's a coffee vendor by the name of Blue Bottle Coffee that has crazy lines.  I don't drink coffee so I can not tell you anything about good/bad of it.  We were standing in line and the people in front of us ordered a cafe affogato (which is basically ice cream with fresh coffee poured on top of it).  It looked so guess what.  Yup - we shared ice cream for breakfast!

If you are wondering what I am holding, it's sunflower seeds still on the stem.

The four of us had a blast eating and spending time together.  Sunday morning was the day of the race.  The course was beautiful running through the city.  Nike puts on a great event with entertainment throughout the race and great partnerships sponsoring the event.  There were several stations from Nuetrogena that offered face wipes (which feels incredible when you a sweaty mess) and they were passing out truffles at mile 11.

Of course, like the 25,000 fellow runners, we had our sights on the trophy - the Tiffany necklace.  Each year Nike unveils a new design and at the end of the race, you can even take pictures with a fireman in tuxedo.  I elected not to stand in the crazy long lines to get the photograph.

Linking up with these fabulous ladies:
