As we are in the thick of holiday season, the weekends are getting busier and busier. The hubby & I took Friday off to do some Christmas shopping. I can't say it was a pure success or a bust but we got some shopping done. We shopped at 3 stores and had lunch and I was exhausted. As much as I love clothes, I hate shopping. So I guess the rest of the gifts will be from Amazon or gift cards. I just love Amazon Prime. They just make shopping way too easy.
This not a sponsored post, they have no idea who I am. Amazon Prime is pretty awesome for a couple of reasons: free music, free shows, free Kindle book downloads each month. I have not taken advantage of downloading free books yet because I don't really enjoy reading off iPad or my iPhone. I also love that you can pretty much find anything and everything on Amazon.
Take these socks, I have been wanting to try the thigh high socks but have not had any success with finding them and decided to look on Amazon. I ordered these and the arrive in 2 days! I am so happy with the quality of these socks. I gave the socks with open toe heels a few weeks ago (here) and it was a more a no for me.
I have been loving seeing bloggers wear thigh high socks with matching color heels to give the illusion of thigh high boots and really love the look. You can see it on Heather of Thrift Stories and Alex of The Cherry Blossom Girl. So I thought I would give this look a test run and see how I like it.
I wore this outfit this past weekend to the Huntington Beach boat parade. Since I am pretty particular about the length of my skirts, I don't have too many shorter length skirt to really pair with thigh highs and really just had this faux leather skater skirt from Ann Taylor. I really like how this look turned out. My only complaint is that when I was walking the socks slipped down a bit. I think this look is much easier to pull off than socks with open toe heels and a good alternative if you do not want to spend money to buy a pair of over the knee boots.

Here's a look at how I've worn this faux leather skater skirt for work.
Just wanted to share with you some bright and festive boats that were part of the parade. We have been coming to this parade for a couple of years and it's always a lot of fun. Oh I wish I had a boat and the money to decorate it. ... a girl can dream.
