Navy Lace

I bought this dress in early spring when Loft had one of their many 40% off the entire store sales.  I am not sure why it took me so long to wear it.  I love wearing eyelet in the spring and summer, the fabric and pattern just screams summer.  The dark navy color makes it just a bit more office ready than the traditional white eyelet.

How long do you typically wait to wear your new purchases?

Opps...I just realized I titled this post navy lace probably should have been navy eyelet.  The are kind of the same right?

Day to Night: Camo Pants

Happy Monday and yippee to a short work week!  Camo prints were all the rage last year in a lot of the blogs I follow.  I finally jumped on the bandwagon and got a pair.  I love these, they are so comfortable.  These are not really jeans but not pants either but somewhere in between.  I like that they are not army green which for me makes it easier to style.

These camo pants are way too casual for my office but perfect for running errands (how I spend most of my weekends) and swap out flats to heels and add a blazer and you are ready for dinner.

Are you a fan of camo print?

Work to Play: Scallop Dress

Happy Friday!  What an exciting week it was here in our household....my son graduated from Kindergarten.  Such a bitter sweet moment, I am so proud of the how much he has grown and is learning everyday.  But like all parents, I am cherishing these sweet innocent years and want him to stay this sweet forever.  I already can't hug and kiss him in front of his friends so I know the day will come when he won't even want to hold my hand.  Until then, I am cherishing every sweet moment I have with my little man.

This coral scallop dress was purchased last year and I have only worn it for work.  Personally, it feels a tad short for work but my mind is still fixated on wearing to work so I reserve for Fridays when it's a little more laid back or I don't see any clients.

I finally decided to wear it on the weekend in a more casual way and really liked how it turned out.  Next time, I probably won't wear the black sandals with it, it just feels a bit harsh with this outfit.  I was hoping it would balance out the sweetness of the dress.  Looking at these pictures, I think I would gone with a nude pair of flats or wedges.

Neutral Territory

When it comes to fashion, I try to be opened minded to trends and styles and see what works for me.   I think a lot of times, you see something enough times you become adaptive to it and it's normal.  I think that's the same way I've been with colors.  I remember when most of my clothes were mainly neutral colors and not a whole lot of patterns besides stripes.

The other day,  my good blogging friend  Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo Style Files made a comment that she's not used to seeing me with lack of colors.   Her comment made me stop and look through my photos and I sort of laughed because I have no idea when this happened.  I think it's funny how your style just evolves without you really realizing it.

Going back to my roots of simpler days, this is kind of summer outfit.  No fuss and comfy - you just can't beat that.

Year Round Dress

I haven't worn this dress in awhile so I thought I would pair with my trusty pink blazer that I swear I wear every week (worn herehere hereherehere, & here).  This is a perfect year round dress that I can wear with a blouse underneath when it's cold or wear it like I did here with a blazer.

I used to wear dresses only 1 way that was all by itself.  I never really thought that I could layer it with wearing a blouse underneath or even making it turn into a skirt or a top.  Thank you to the fashion blogging community for showing me that dresses can be so versatile.

What have you learned from reading fashion blogs?

White Denim

Something about a loose tank and jeans is just so comfortable.   A perfect outfit for dinner - a pair of stretchy jeans.  Growing up I hated wearing jeans because they were always way too stiff and just too uncomfortable.

Please disregard the beautiful background of a trash can.  We went to dinner and it was getting dark and there was no nice background so we just took the picture.  An outfit didn't happen unless I took a picture right?  I know ...first world problems.  I guess that's why I am stuck with taking pictures near my house.

Cobalt Midi

I hope you had a great weekend!  We celebrated Father's Day with my hubby's family this past weekend and had a great time.  I am hoping I will have a chance to go home later this summer visit my baba and spend some time with him.  In the meantime, Skype will do.  Isn't technology amazing?  We have a standing Skype time with my family every weekend where we try to have my son show my parents what's he's up to.  Sometimes, it's a cartwheel or some days it could a missing tooth.  Unfortunately, my son's attention span is pretty short so the conversations are pretty short.  It's still gives us the chance to stay connected even if we are thousands of miles away.

For the bloggers out there, do you use Skype to keep in touch with your internet friends?

If you been reading this little blog of mine for some time, you probably notice that I am a pencil skirt addict.  I think I may have found a new love...midi skirts.  I love how feminine they are.  I ordered 4 midi skirts from ASOS and kept this pretty blue cobalt skirt.  (I ordered thisthis and this one too).  This was my first experience from ASOS and I would say it was easy and painless from ordering to returning.  My credit card company did call me to verify the purchase since it's considered international.  Glad to know that my credit card is keeping an eye on my purchases.

Work to Play: Yellow Polka Dot Skirt

Whenever I wear this yellow polka dot skirt, it just makes me happy.  I have a ton of pencil skirts and  struggle with wearing them for anything besides work.  I think it maybe the majority of my pencil skirts are longer in length and looks dowdy with flats.

I attempted to dress down with this skirt.  I like the outcome of it but still think the skirt is a bit long to wear with sneakers. Next time, I will pair it with some wedges.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Double Dose

This outfit has a lot of doubles ...let's see if you can spot them.
1. Lace (dress & cuff)
2. Leopard (belt & heels)
3. Double arrow necklace

I like how the floral pattern on the cuff looks like a delicate lace pattern.  I am a creature of habit and always love this belt with these shoes.  They are very similar in color and the smaller leopard pattern on the belt is a good dose without competing with the heels.

Something about lace just feels so right for summer.  The dress feels a bit dressy for work but by adding the blazer, it made it more work appropriate.  Blazers are my secret weapon to make most of my clothes work ready.

Flats

I am a heels person pretty much 99.99% of the time when it comes to work.   I have been on a hunt for yellow heels for a long time and bought a pair of yellow heeled sandals last year.  I really wished I had a pair of simple yellow heels for this outfit because my sandals didn't feel right.  So I grabbed my trusty yellow flats and wore it.

What's your shoe preference: flats vs. heels?

I don't know what I did when I was adjusting my pictures, this dress is grey and not blue as you see in the first 2 pictures.

I Pity the Fool

The title of my post is really aging me.  Does any one know what show this saying is from?
I used to have an awesome memory where I meet you one time and I will remember your name and our conversation even if it was years ago.  My memory is not as sharp any more but it's still pretty decent.  It seems the long term memory is till there and short term is touch and go - some days, I can not even remember what I had for breakfast.

Do you do brain exercise to keep the memory? Does playing 2048 on my iPhone count as brain exercise? I am addicted to this game.

I love how this necklace made this outfit feeling all brand new.  These pieces are several years old in my closet with the exception of the necklace.  I love the boldness of the necklace and when I received it, it totally reminded me of Mr. T from The A Team but in silver.  By the way, this necklace does come in gold too.

Monday Blues

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I feel like every weekend with all the activities we have that I always have the case of Monday Blues.  Our highlight this weekend was my son parading at the Angel stadium with his t-ball teammates.  Just too cute!

I also watched The Fault in Our Stars and it was a great movie.  I read the book all cried my eyes out.  They kept the movie pretty close to the book.  The lead characters did such a believable job and the young girls watching around me where falling for the leading male character, Augusta Waters.  I did shed some tears in the theater but there were some major sobbing by other movie goers.

Do you remember a movie that made you cry?

Work to Play: Gingham Seersucker Pants

I don't own anything seersucker and wasn't looking to buy any.  I saw these pants on the mannequin at the Loft and feel in love with these checkered pants.  I didn't realize that they were seersucker until when I got home and looked online.  I was never much of a fan of seersucker because they look like a wrinkle mess.  I wore these the very next day and must say that I am a convert.

I love how Trina of Tea Time with Trina has been rocking her seersucker lately.

Are you a fan of seersucker?

Mental List

Are you a very good and diligent shopper that only buys what's missing in your closet?  Do you keep a mental list of what you are looking for when you are shopping?

I am not that shopper, in fact, I am the opposite of a methodical shopper.  I am extremely impulsive and easily persuaded.  Just call me the sales person's dream customer.  I probably should not even step into the mall because inevitably, I will buy something.  Even though I am that crazy shopper, I do have a mental list of things that I've been wanting.  I am currently looking for a coral pinkish top, a green top, and my latest obsession....full skirts.

I don't shop much at H &M, that store is just a bit overwhelming and the cut of their clothes doesn't fit me too well.  They do have a lot of fun trendy items but they also have some staples that they repeat season after season.  This red skirt, I've seen it on bloggers in white, black and yellow and I've been wanting it every time I see it.  I knew this is one item that was on my want list.  I was on their website one night and this skirt was listed and they only had my size left.  I figured it was a sign that it was meant to be and ordered it.  I guess having a mental shopping list paid off this time.

What's on your shopping list?
