The 90s

The 90s was the decade the defined me as an adult.  It was the decade that I graduated from high school (yes, I am old) attended college and met some great friends that I love dearly and still keep in touch regularly.

The 90s was the decade of grunge music and though I don't necessarily considered myself grunge at the time, I loved Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Even living in Hawaii (where no big name bands ever traveled to), I was fortunate enough to see Pearl Jam in concert and many other bands.  I still listen to my 90s music when I run, with the up tempo it really gets me moving.

Though I am not in my 20s any more, when I put this outfit on...I swear I was back in the 90s with the  flannel plaid shirt.  I probably would've worn this with my trusty Doc Martens back in the 90s.

What genre of music do you like?

Stripe Wrap Top 3x

Happy Monday - I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  It was a weekend of sunshine and lots of activities in our household.  Our highlight this weekend was that we spent a night at the Legoland Hotel  My son has been looking forward to this all week long and just loved how fun the hotel and the park was.  So thankful of the great weather and being able to enjoy the water park.

I am no stranger to stripes and swear I have stripe items in every color combo and stripe size imaginable.  Of course, it seems that somehow retailers still find creative ways to make stripes different and new.

I don't own too many wrap tops and love how the stripes flowed in this one.  Some people avoid stripes at all cost but it appears I just keep adding them to my closet.

What print do you tend to gravitate towards?

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Gingham Pants

Considering that we officially welcomed fall this week I thought I would give my gingham seersucker pants one more spin before I put them away for next spring & summer.

This time, I paired it with my pumpkin spice latte color cardigan to make give this outfit a more fall look.  I am probably the only person in the planet that does have never tried a PSL and is not too excited to try it.  The thought of drinking pumpkin just sounds gross.  I do enjoy my pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie just not drinking it.

What's your favorite way to have pumpkin?

Going Dotty

Happy Fall everyone!  Today is officially the first day of fall. Hope that everyone had a nice weekend.  It's going to be a busy week at my real job so I will won't be posting much this week.

I don't shop at Target for clothes as much I would like too.  I just find that the fit and quality is not how I want to spend my money.  There are some great finds there that tempt me like this dress.  It's easy to care and it doesn't wrinkle and the price is right (under $30).  I do love a dress like this for days that you just want to throw something on and pretty much you are good to go.  And I will need all the help I can get this week.

Do you have a go to outfit when you are short on time?

I will be back on Thursday in time for Throw Back Thursday Fashion link up.  I hope to see you at the link up!

Mad for Plaid

The stores have been transitioning all the clothes from summer to fall for sometime now.  Last year, I was sucked in by all the pretty sweaters at all the stores and added a few to my closet.  Unfortunately, fall and winter was for about all of 2 days last year and I did not get to use most of my purchases.  So this year, I am trying to be wiser with my purchases and not buy any sweaters or for colder climate.

With that said, that doesn't mean I am not tempted with all the current offerings.  Let's just say that I've gone mad for plaid.  Recently, the Loft had a 40% off sale and I picked up these pants and trench.  (okay so the trench is really not year round friendly but I could not resist a fun coat)  I also ordered this skirt from The Limited which will look so cute with leggings and boots.

What print do you love to wear in the fall and winter?

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up - Polka Dot Pleated Top

When I think of wear neutrals, I always struggle with adding some interest with it.  I typically play with textures to give it another dimension.  Today, I used all neutral colors and played with a soft pattern mixing with polka dots and a tonal skirt that's chevron stripe. Adding the leopard heels gave it an extra fun factor.

Before blogging, I was so afraid of leopard prints.  Now when I want to do some pattern mixing, I grab my leopard heels.  I have not met anything that does not go with leopard.  I have learned to love it so much that leopard is my neutral.

Do you consider leopard as a neutral?

A Darker Shade of Red

I have always like wearing red and blue together.  So it just made sense for me to try burgundy with a dark blue.  I liked how these colors turned out and it made this outfit a bit fall-ish without all the layers.

My tip of the day: It there's a color combo that you like in the spring/summer go for the darker shades and it will transition well into fall/winter.

Soft Heart

I am really enjoying my new hearts blouse since it's made of silk.  Natural fabrics just feels so much better against the skin when it is so hot out there.  I was a bit hesitant to pair it a soft pink girly skirt but liked how it turned out.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Blurred Dots x 2

Hope that everyone enjoyed a great weekend.  With extreme water drought and hot weather, Southern CA is in fire season.  There was a brush fire near about 10 miles away from where I live.  It didn't affect me but it's always so scary to see the flames and smoke from your house.  My son started his soccer season and had his first game in 100 degree temps. Let's just say that this mama was HOT and not in a good way.

What was your highlight this weekend?

When I bought this cardigan, I wasn't too sure about it and wanted to return it.  I bought it with rewards and think I paid about $5 for it so it just seemed like just a waste of time and gas to drive to the mall to return the sweater and decided to keep it.  Little did I know, it's been such a work horse in my closet.

Have you kept items because it was such a deal?  Or do a strict shopper and return it if it's not a love item?
