I've already talked about these stunning heels on Monday so I won't go on gushing about them. I have always wanted a tulle skirt ever since the SJP made it famous and fabulous to wear a tutu and not be 8 years old (see here). Tulle skirts are not stranger to the blogging world but I kept thinking how practical are they really in real life.
As much clothes I have, I think most of my purchases are pretty practical and can be worn pretty much all the time. Even though tulle skirts are popular on blogs, I honestly have not seen any adult (or gasp! someone over 40!) wear one. The skirt is way to dressy for work and to spend at least a $100 on a skirt that I can hardly wear was not practical or smart in my mind.
My blogging friend, Suzanne Carillo, wrote a great post on How to Wear a Tulle Skirt Over 40. I love all the different ways she's worn her skirt and made it look amazing. I have always kept this in the back of my mind and thought one of these days if the price is right, I will may take the plunge.
So what made me buy such an impractical purchase? Instagram sale. I don't remember how I found it but I saw that someone was closing their online store and selling the skirt for under $40. I thought it was a fair price to take a chance on this skirt.
I wore it a few weeks ago with some friends to Velvet Lounge drag queen brunch show. I figure if anywhere, a tulle skirt and some bling would fit right in. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend the show, I could not stop laughing from the moment the show started. And I must say, I was very envious of their make up, beautiful costumes and dancing skills.
Do you own a tulle skirt? I am curious to hear where you have worn it.
This will be last post in 2015, I have decided to take the rest of the year off to focus on my family. Enjoy the holidays and see you in 2016!
