Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Distressed Boyfriend Jeans

Everyone has their favorite pair of jeans.  And a favorite can be for different reasons like it makes my butt look good, it makes my legs long and lean and the list can go on.

My favorite pair of jeans are not designer brand, they probably are not very flattering on but I love them.  They are my distressed boyfriend jeans from Old Navy.  I just love the laid back vibe of them and how comfortable they are.  They have appeared numerous times of the blog but in real life, I probably wear them every weekend and sometimes all weekend long.

Do you have a pair of jeans that you grab over and over again? What style are they?

Empowerment

A few months ago, I shared with you that I joined Younique (original post here) after trying out their #1 selling Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara. I really had no expectations of where this was going to take me but just loved it and thought for a small investment of $99, it was worth the risk to try out some product and make some money.

With the holidays, I really did not focus much on pursing the business but had great sales since the mascara made such a great holiday gift.  Fast forward to mid January and I still really haven't given much thought to it.  This past weekend, there was a seminar hosted by local presenters in Southern California so I decided to attend and see what the big fuss is all about.

I honestly did zero research on the company and what it represented.  So I learned a lot in this seminar.  For starters, this company just started in 2012 and there is about 160,000 representative worldwide. They currently ship to U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom.  All of the products is all natural and is free of paraben, carcinogen and chemicals and are not animal tested.

Being a make up company, the seminar comprised mainly of women (there were a few gents in the audience).  When you think of a group of 200+ women in the same room selling the same product in a defined geographic location (Southern California), what type of atmosphere would you think it would create?  A bit of jealousy, a bit envious, a bit of curiosity of why this person is more successful than you?

I was truly blown away with the feeling of empowerment and support from this seminar.  The ladies that presented were not professional motivational speakers, they were everyday people like you and me.  Many were able to retire from the day job due to the success of selling make up.

Here were some of my take aways that you can really apply to anything in life:
1.  Find something that is your passion
2. Set goals
3. Believe in yourself and be sincere in what you are selling
4. Do your research and just do it
5. Make the time to do some work to make it happen

And most importantly, why are you doing this?

I started this journey on a whim and now my goal is to have additional income stream and save up for a vacation for the family.  I am setting my goal low for now and will evaluate in a few months and see if I need to adjust it.  Having a goal will help motivate me to better myself in this business.

So my question to you, have you joined a direct marketing company?  If yes, what have you found successful?

If you are interested in joining Younique or have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email at happinessatmidlife@gmail.com.

So I went on a bit about Youniuqe.  It's such a great organization that I don't want to keep it all to myself.   So now onto my outfit.  I have been living in leggings this past winter mainly because I have put on some weight.  I don't really like to wear leggings on a regular basis because it is too giving and you can neglect the weight management.  I have started to watch my eating again and in due time, I will be able to fit into my clothes again.

Anyways, I digress.....I have always worn solid leggings.  Recently, I bought 2 pairs of printed leggings and love them.  Here I am sharing the leopard ones worn 2 ways.  The pairing with the poncho did not show the print well but I promise I am wearing them.

This outfit of the belted poncho was inspired by this pin.  I love the idea of wearing ponchos but sometimes, I think it's fun to have it belted to give it a different look.

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Hot Pink Moto Jacket

I am not that shies away from bright colors. I wear them year round and do love wearing a bright jacket in the winter to help brighten my day.  This moto jacket from Gap is probably the brightest piece of clothing I own.

I have only worn this jacket with dark colors and probably would not go crazy and wear it with another bright color.

Are you comfortable with wearing brights in the winter?

Tights

I don't get to wear tights too often since it really does not get that cold.  I was looking in my dresser the other day for tights and all I could find was black pattern tights.  I had everything from polka dots, houndstooth, fishnet to argyle but nothing plain.  This red pair is very bold and rarely used.  Since they were the only plain ones I could find, I wore them by default.

How do you feel about colored tights?

Black Watch Plaid 2 Ways

Today, we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr..  My son had to write his own speech at school and this what he wrote:

"I have a dream that I wished for a free world.  I also wish that nobody dies and that people are not poor and everybody has a home."

I would say it's pretty wise for a 6 year old.

We have the day off today so I am off so  I am going to enjoy the day with my family.  I am sharing with you 2 looks  that I wore recently with my black watch plaid jacket.  Please disregard how long the pants are, I swear they didn't bunch up when I wore them.  I guess it's time to get these pants hemmed.

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Yellow Midi Skirt

I normally do not wear my lighter weight clothes in the winter even with our mild weather.  It just feels a bit out of sync.  When I saw Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb in her yellow maxi skirt all bundled and looking so great, I thought I would give it a try.

So glad I gave this a try, I loved how everything came together.  The brightness in my skirt helped cheer up a dreary day.

I love when I find inspiration from other bloggers.  It really does help me think outside of my comfort zone.  What risk have you taken as a result of reading other blogs?

My TBT goes back to the first time I wore this sunny yellow skirt (original post here).  This was back in June 2012.  Oh how 2 1/2 years have changed. This was when I was at my fittest (I am working on getting back on track), used my fancy iPhone and too afraid to even take photos outside of my house.    Thank goodness this skirt is elastic so I can still fit into it.

Beanie

How often do you wash your hair?  I used to wash it daily and then discovered dry shampoo and that put a stop to washing my everyday.  FYI, I use Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo.  I love this brand because it works and it is inexpensive.  Even with sweating like crazy because of working out, using dry shampoo keeps my hair looking pretty decent.  Depending on how my hair looks, I wash my hair every 2-3 days.

Some days, my hair just does not agree with me and I can't style it no matter what I do.  And that day was this day, it just would not flat iron the way I wanted to lay.  So in my frustration, I pulled out my beanie.  I have totally forgotten that the beanie is perfect to hide bad hair days (dirty or clean).

So how often do you wash your hair?  And any styling tips for stubborn hair?

P.S.  Hope you will be back on Thursday and join Throw Back Thursday Fashion link up.

Now & Later: Polka Dot Dress

How did everyone adjust back to work/normal schedule last week?  Even though I worked through the holidays, it was pretty easy and laid back so it felt like i was on semi vacation.  Last week getting back to the full swing of things was rough.  I could not for the life of me get up on time.  I was about an hour late from getting up each day and had to rush to get everything and everyone ready to leave the house.  Let's hope this week goes a lot easier.

This dress was one of my favorite purchase last year.  I just love the fit of it and the easy care.  Nothing having to dry clean or iron automatically ups the love factor of this dress.  So this dress is perfect for days when I need to get ready quickly.  BTW, I do love layering with a shirt underneath to keep me warm and another plus...I don't need to iron my wrinkly shirt either!

When you shop for clothes, do you pay attention to washing instructions?  Does that sway you one way or another to purchase?

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: A Look Back to 2013

I bought this plaid jacket late last summer and had not had a chance to wear it because it was not cool enough.  So I was beyond excited that we finally had some really cold weather (by California standards).  Not only was I able to wear the jacket, I was also able to wear a sweater with it.  Oh, it's the little things that make me happy.

BTW, I hope all my friends out in the real cold weather and staying nice and warm.

I hope your first full week in 2015 has been smooth sailing.  Have a great weekend!

Popular in Blogs Only?

I had written a really nice post today and lost it all!!!  It looks like I will still be technologically challenged for 2015.

I had saved the post and hit publish and when I went to preview it...it was all gone.  I am going to blame the little demon that lives in my computer and not the user.

So no well written post today, just an outfit with a scarf that's been all over Instagram and the blogging community.  And yet, I have not seen one person in real life with it.  So I am curious to see if these popular items are just favorites with bloggers or with the general public.  Some other items that I always see are: J Crew Herringbone VestKendra Scott Necklace and Valentino Rockstud Heels.

Do you see what's trending in fashion blogs in real life?

P.S.  Hope you will be back on Thursday and join Throw Back Thursday Fashion link up.
