Sweater Dressing

I hope for those that celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful time with their family.  If you are one of the brave souls that participated in Black Friday, I love to hear your experience.  I have never camped over night to get a deal or even gotten up at that crack of dawn to score the "it" thing for the holidays.  I personally love sleep too much.

I don't know if the sales are starting a lot much earlier now days but personally by the time Black Friday comes around, the deals do not seem all that special any more.  Plus there's always Cyber Monday to help shoppers find those great prices.  I am such a procrastinator shopper that I don't get any Christmas shopping done until mid December so these deals are not calling to me yet.

Besides shopping, did you over indulge in some food this weekend?  I am really trying not to overindulge and my girl friend and I have stopped eating sugar since last week (we gave ourselves this past weekend a free pass).  I did really well on the Whole30 and then work got crazy busy and I let my eating go by the wayside.

I hate gaining weight (who likes to right?) and when there's a few pounds to lose, there's nothing worst then wearing clothes that are tight.  I hate to buy clothes when I am heavier since I do not want to stay this size.  That's where sweater dresses come to the rescue.  If you are going for comfort (no spanx required) find a sweater dress that is not as form fitting and I promise you that it's like wearing pajamas.

I would love to hear all about your Black Friday or any crazy shopping experiences.

I know we just chatted about Instagram the other day but here I am talking about it again.  I am much more active posting there since no writing is required.  I posted this outfit that I wore to my son's soccer practice and my blog buddy, Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo's Style, Smiles & Stories said that my outfit was Plaidtastic and I just loved the word.  So here I am today sharing 2 different plaidtastic looks.

Somehow we need to figure out how to make this into a real word.  So here are some words that have been added to the dictionary recently:
1. Fleek - I can honestly say that I have not used this word and have never heard any of my friends us it even though I know what it means.  Personally, it feels a bit too slang for a person that is a bit older to be using.  This probably sounds weird since words really have no age limit.
2. Emoji - I guess even the dictionary has made it into the digital age.  Next thing you know, they will have emoji definitions.

Speaking of words, I want to thank all of you for stopping by and reading this little blog of mine.  I am thankful for comments and I love this great blogging community!  I will be taking the rest of the week off and will be back next Monday.  If are celebrating Thanksgiving, have a wonderful time with your family and friends!

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Burgundy Heels

Instagram is a good and bad place.  It's good in that it's connected me to people that love clothes from all over the world. It's bad in that maybe you may feel the pressure to have the perfect life attending various functions wearing fabulous clothes, eating ice cream and drinking pretty coffee drinks all day.  From what I have been reading,  I think there are people that feel they need to wear a new #ootd to make their feed interesting.

I lead a very fulfilling boring life and I am fine with that.  I go to work, work out, pick up my son and head home for homework and dinner.  On the weekends, it's grocery shopping, laundry and my son's sporting activities and attend birthday parties.  My life is far from perfect, I struggle with weight and don't know how bloggers/instagramers eat so much ice cream/donuts.  I have read somewhere that a lot of it is staged for that perfect picture and most don't even eat it.  I don't know about you, but I am not about to go and waste a tasty donut.

Well I digress....I do love Instagram in following people and getting exposed to brands or style I would not try otherwise.  One of the stylish I follow is Clinton Kelly who was a co-host of What Not to Wear.  Way back in 2013, he did some collaboration with Macy and showed some great styling ideas. I fell in love with these boots and bought them.

Here's another reason I love Instagram.  I fell in love with these heels which unfortunately sold out pretty quickly.  I posted it on Instagram asking for anyone that if they see them in the store to please let me know.  One of my sweet friends posted that she has a pair that she was returning because it was too big for her.  Lucky for me, they are my size.  I am excited that these beautiful heels are making it's way to me.

What do you think of Instagram and do you feel the pressure to post perfect pictures?

Irresistible Me Review

I am feeling a bit broken hearted upon hearing the news of what is happening about the world.  As a parent, I try my best to shelter my child from these type of news and don't know how to explain to him why these bad things happen.  I know there's nothing I can do to change how these people behave but hope that if we all have actions with good intentions to everyone that it will spread and end these type of senseless violence.

On a totally different note, I wanted to share my opinion of the Irresistible Me Sapphire 8 in 1 Complete Curler.  I was reached out by Irresistible Me to try the wand and I was hesitant at first since I never talk about much beauty on the blog.  Then I thought that although I don't talk about it it doesn't mean I don't care about how my hair looks.  When I get dressed for work, I do make sure that I am presentable not only in my clothes but me in general.

All my life, my hair has been a pain because: 1.  I've had pesky grey hair since high school, 2. my hair is very fine and thin and 3. my hair never holds any hair styles I do.  Because of these things, I have kept my hair do pretty low maintenance.  My hair routine consisted of washing hair or dry shampoo and a straightener.  Some days I would use a curling iron but the curls would be done by lunch time.

As the name suggests, this wand has 8 different type of barrel to create different curls from ringlets to beach waves.  The smaller the barrel, the tighter the curls.  They even have a sort of cone shaped wand that gives you loose and tight curl in one.

I have to tell you a funny story about what happened with my wand.  I was so excited and didn't read the instructions and pretty much just picked a wand and plug it in and played with it.  I selected the pearl barrel because it was just so different and it created a very curly hair style which did not suit my face.  Then I could not for the life of me figure out how to take out the barrel.  I exchanged emails with Blair at Irresistible Me and she was very nice and sent me videos but it did not work.  She sent me a prepaid postage to send back and was going to send me a new curler for review.
As a last resort, I took it to my hair stylish and she pulls the barrel right out of the wand! Yup, I told you I am hair tool challenged.  Since then I have figured out how easy it is to interchange the barrels.

I have never used a wand before and it took a little getting used to.  The kit also comes with a glove for the hand that is wrapping the hair around the wand.  I highly recommend using it since the barrel does get hot.  Speaking of temperature the wand heats up very quickly and goes up to 450F, I have been using it at 370F and it seems to work well.

My favorite size so far is the 25MM which gives a loose curl effect that I prefer.  I added some styling balm and my curl lasted the whole day!  It actually retained the curls the next day and I use the wand to freshen some of the curls.

So would I recommend the curler, yes!  I love the idea of having so many options and how easy it is to use.  If you have any questions about it, please let me know.  I think that wand would make a great Christmas gift.  Thank you Irresistible Me for introducing me to a great hair tool.

You can see my loose curls results below.

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Black and White Stripe Skirt

I love anything that's black and white.  In fact, I used to buy mainly black and white because it was so easy to get ready.  I have expanded colors in my closet beyond the colors of the rainbow and still reach for basic black and white when I am stuck in finding something to wear.

One of my favorite piece in my closet is this black and white stripe skirt from White House Black Market.  It's a heavy knit that can be worn year round and of course, it can be worn any color.

Double Plaid

Now that mother nature's finally got the memo that it's fall, I am starting to wear more of my fall items.  I recently purchased this green plaid cardigan and paired it with a summer gingham top.  Even though I say we have cooler weather, it's still really not that cold so a sleeveless shirt underneath works really well.

When I was trying to figure out what to write about today, I was searching on the internet for different types of plaid.  We may think of plaid as fall/winter print but it really is a year round pattern.  I think it all just depends on the fabric and colors of the plaid item.  Light fabric such as madras plaid or a cotton gingham works better for warmer months.  Anything wool or flannel will be for the colder months.

I learned that houndstooth is considered a plaid pattern too. Do you know why it's call houndstooth?  It's because the corners of the check are notched to resemble a dog's tooth.

And there my friend is your useless information for the day.  Please feel free to share any useless random information, it's always so fun to read them.

Throw Back Thursdays Fashion Link Up: Fall Colors

I try not to take things too seriously and I hope that comes across on my blog.  I debated about sharing these photos today because in my head, I LOVED the concept of wearing fall colors.  I thought I look like I could blend in with all the pretty fall leaves on the ground (just not California but some place that really has fall).  In real life, I am not so sure how much I really liked it since it feels like I sort of blend together.

If you are a blogger, I would love to know how do you decide what makes the cut to share.

In not taking myself too seriously, here 'a picture of me dreaming of fall to arrive in California! My hubby and I are lazy and take 3-5 photos for each outfit and we are done.  I am way to lazy to recreate an outfit just for the sake of taking a better photo.
