Polka Dot Midi Skirt 3 Ways

I have always been a huge fan of polka dots and can never say no to them even though I own a ton of it in my closet.  I also love midi skirt and when I saw this skirt at J Crew, I knew it would be part of my closet.  Not only is it a print and style that I love but it's also a car friendly skirt.  Some days I drive a lot (let's just say that the other day I spent 5 hours in traffic) for work and I don't like to wear pencil skirts when I am in the car for a long time.  When I know that I will be on the road most my work day, I make sure I am dressed for the long haul.

As much as I drive, I have only recently started downloading audio books.  What a better way to pass the traffic to enjoy a good book then counting down the miles till I get home.

How long is your work commute?  It's always fun to learn a little more about everyone.  My office commute is not bad, it's only 10 miles and usually takes me about 25 minutes to get to the office.

I will be taking the next 2 weeks off to enjoy spring break.  We will be taking some short trips and will share more when I am back.

See you soon!

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Gingham Blazer

I am so technology challenged.  I normally take my photos with my DSLR on auto settings (learning to use the other settings just seems too daunting) and transfer the photos to my iphone via wireless connection.  From there, I edit the photos on my laptop.

Well these pictures decided to have a mind of it's own and it did not appear on my laptop.  I created a draft of this post on my phone and uploaded the photos without any editing.  These photos are super blurry and I am pretty sure with my limited editing skills they would probably not make a difference.  I am going to blame this on the photographer.

I want to talk about these pants.  Can I say I am in love with them. Crop pants have always been my preferred length and I am loving the slight flare.  I am so in love with them that I bought them in navy too.  I thought the green color was different from any shade I own and what a perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick's day.

I am loving the crop flare trend that I ordered these jeans as well.

What's your preferred length on pants?

I bought this blazer towards the end of summer last year and knew it would be a closet staple.  I know it's not spring yet (almost there) but gingham is such a great pattern for spring. I can't wait to wear a ton this year.

Here's a throw back to last year when I wore the blazer.  I never posted these photos because they were taken by my son and the angle is a bit odd and I never got any really good pictures.

Leggings and Layering

I am not in love with these 3 looks that I am sharing today but they were very comfy outfits. All 3 outfits revolves around leggings and a flowing layers.  I love the idea of this but I think for me it becomes a challenge due to proportions.  I am a shortie (5' 4") and the long tunic sweater covers most of my legs and I probably should've worn heels with the 2 looks with it.

The third look, I felt good about wearing it but seeing in the pictures, I am not a fan of it.  I have naturally larger legs and seeing so much of the leggings sort of freaks me out.  I think the grandpa sweater didn't feel right with it too.

What I do love about these 3 looks is that it would made a perfect travel capsule.  They are easy pieces that could mix and match together.  I just adore stripes and leopard together.

Do you agree that these looks can be improved?  Don't worry my feelings won't be hurt, I would love to hear your suggestions.

Throw Back Thursday Fashion Link Up: Cobalt Blue Blazer

Blazers are pretty much part of my work uniform.  I wore them almost daily for work since they can easily dress anything up.  One of my favorite blazer is this cobalt blue blazer that I've had for several years.  I just love the color and the cut of it.  It seems to go with every color and is flattering on so many skin tones.

The downside when I wear blazers is that they do feel a bit restrictive and I end up taking them off at the office.  This one has a bit of stretch to it and I like the 3/4 sleeves makes it easier to work on the computer.

I wished I wear my blazers more on the weekends but they just feel too fancy for the laid back weekends.

Do you have a favorite color that you like to wear?

Here's a throw back to 2013 when I wore this blazer with a vibrant yellow dress (original post here).   Oh I remember how I loved this dress and unfortunately got to wear it only once.  It shrank after in the wash.  And the necklace was a favorite too but it has since fallen apart.

Goldilocks and the 3 Chambray Blazers

We all know the story of Goldilocks and when she goes to a house in the woods to discover a house and find the perfect porridge and bed.  So this is my story of me staring as Goldilocks and 3 chambray blazers.

I have been on the hunt for a chambray blazer for a couple years.  It seems the stores come out with one every year and it's filed so far back in my mind that when I spot one there are few sizes left and I am left to wait till the following year.

Somehow I lucked out and found 3 chambray blazers this year.  The first one I found was this one.  I liked the darker denim color and was excited to see the cut of the blazer.  I went to the store and was so crushed that the fabric felt cheap and could wrinkle easily just not what I expected from the pictures online.

The next 2 I ordered online and you can see them in the pictures below.  Guess which one I kept?

Blazer 1, the double breasted blazer from Banana Republic or blazer 2 from J Crew.

I was so excited when I got these blazers in the mail.  I love the fabric of the Banana Republic blazer, it was exactly what I was looking for.  I don't own too many double breasted blazer and thought it would be a good change from my standard M.O.

I knew that I would love the J Crew blazer since I already have the same cut blazer in other colors and have always appreciated the quality of their blazers.  They are always so timeless and can be worn for work or a dressed up weekend look.

I was so crushed with the fit of the Banana Republic blazer.  The cut was too boxy and did nothing for my figure.  It looked so much more sleek in this photo.

Slipping on the J Crew blazer felt perfect as I expected.  I ended up keeping this one.

So moral of the story is that there may be many similar items in the market but you have to try to find the perfect one for you.

Throw Back Thursday Fashion: Floral Lace Skirt

I originally saw this pretty flatly on Lisa of Respect the Shoes's Instagram feed and knew I had to recreate it. I already have the skirt and love the idea of wearing lace with stripes but sort of forgot about it.  Then last week's link up Katie of Hello Katie Girl wore a similar outfit inspired by Lisa and reminded me to wear this combo.

I love that we are all inspired by the same concept (stripes, lace and leopard) and we put our own spin on the outfit.
